The historic city of Verona is most well known for being the location of Shakespeare's world famous play, Romeo and Juliet. This is a quite well situated city, located in north west Italy, not far from the major Italian cities of the north. Verona is also quite popular among tourists, and the best places to visit are those in the inner core of the city, which retain the city's charm and original attractions. The outer suburbs of Verona are now being spoilt with modern development. However, the city centre has some wonderful historical buildings such as the Basilica di Sant'Anastasia, the Giardino Giusti and the stunning and very old Palazzo Forti, which ironically, now houses modern art. Other cultural attractions in Verona include the fine Italian art galleries and museums, which include Museo civico, Museo archeologico and the Museo d'arte. If you enjoy eating out at restaurants, then the selection of restaurants in Verona is very good, although the best are the Italian establishments. Hotels in Verona are extensive and range from the upscale and luxurious to the more simple and more affordable accommodation.
