Limassol
is the second largest city in Cyprus and has the biggest transit trade
port in the Mediterranean. A unique combination of Ancient, Frankish,
Byzantine and other modern influences can be observed in it.
In the city there is a Byzantine Castle, built around the year 1000
AD and in it a cappella, in which allegedly Richard Lionheart married
Berengaria. After the cappella had been destroyed due to an earthquake,
a new Gothic-style church was built in stead. In addition, there is
Limassol a public park with a zoo.
