"Since it opened in 1994, DIE QUADRIGA has become one of the top gourmet restaurants in Berlin, as anyone who has been there will confirm". In November 1998 DIE QUADRIGA has been awarded with a Michelin-Star. To enter the hotel's Wintergarten you first pass through a large, sandstone-framed gate with the Brandenburg coat of arms on it. From there you proceed through four double-winged doors to the inner sanctum of master chef, Wolfgang Nagler, who spoils his guests with the culinary delights of French grande cuisine. You sit in Frank Lloyd Wright chairs made of cherry-wood; eat from china manufactured by the Königliche Manufaktur Berlin; savour tender slices of calf's head in a morel vinaigrette sauce with fried goose liver or a medium cutlet and braised knuckle of spring lamb with pâtissons; marvel at the flower arrangements of a grand master in ikebana and listen to the sounds of the piano. Here - as everywhere else in the hotel - valuable pictures, precious antiquities and elaborate stucco work by Polish master craftsmen make up a fascinating contrast of styles. Wolfgang Nagler, Michele Rinaldini (maître d'htel) and Matthias Dathan (sommelier) take the greatest pleasure in spoiling their guests in every conceivable way. After all, nothing lingers longer in the memory than the taste of your favourite dish. They contrive a feast for the senses, one which will entice you back to where you so willingly succumbed. |
